Board of Directors

John Band

John is the Chairman of the Board. A British citizen, he has lived in India for many years and heads the Investment Banking and Financial Services division at Batlivala & Karani Securities. John has a Masters degree in Economics from the University of Cambridge and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales. John is actively involved in the patenting of Nextenders’ intellectual property and the evolution of its international expansion plans.
Tapan Mehta

Tapan is a founder-Director of Nextenders. He has 10 years’ experience in marketing and operations in India and Europe, and has dealt extensively with European engineering OEMs. Prior to setting up Nextenders, Tapan worked for a German company, Gesellschaft fur Technologie-Transfer mbH where he was responsible for managing OEM clients in Germany and Switzerland. He subsequently joined his family business in the Star Group of Companies. He was initially based in Berlin and London for the European operations of the business, then moved to India to join the manufacturing operations. Tapan is a Mathematics graduate from the University of Edinburgh and a post-graduate in Set Theory from King’s College, London. When he wants to relax, he heads off to the beaches of Goa with his wife.
Sumeet Bhatt

Sumeet is a founder-Director of Nextenders, He has over 13 years' experience in engineering, marketing, and sales in India, USA, Europe, South Asia, and the Middle East, and has set up marketing offices and agencies overseas. He began his career in his family business in 1987 as the Managing Partner of India Radio & Electronics Corporation, a company that dealt in electronic components and whose clients were mainly government departments and public sector organisations. In 1991 he joined the Star Group of Companies, where he was in charge of International Marketing. He was a professional club cricketer till his late twenties and continues to be an avid follower of the game. He also enjoys listening to the blues, reading, and holidaying with his family.
Sujeet Bhatt

Sujeet is the Technical Director of Nextenders. He has over 20 years’ experience in technical translation and documentation for European and American clientele, and is fluent in German, Dutch and several Indian languages. He is the in-house geek, and his home is a veritable mini IT hub. When he wants to unwind, he takes off to the Himalayas.
Abhay Desai

Abhay is a Chartered Accountant of more than 20 years standing and a graduate of the London School of Economics. As a non-executive director, he brings considerable professional experience to corporate finance, legal and governance matters.
Girish Gupta

Girish is a nominee Director of Nextenders from the Rajasthan Venture Capital Fund (RVCF). He is a Director and the CEO of RVCF, and has more than 28 years’ experience in investment banking and venture capital finance, focusing on the Small and Medium Enterprises sector. He was conferred the State Merit Award by the Chief Minister of Rajasthan in 2002 for his contribution to the Electronics and IT industry in the state.
Diwakar Singhal

Diwakar is also a nominee Director of Nextenders from RVCF. He is a Senior Vice President and Global Operating Leader with Genpact, and runs their Commercial Banking Portfolio.
Board Advisor
Ketan Sampat

Ketan is an advisor to the Board of Directors of Nextenders. He has worked at Intel for over 25 years, where he was involved in key innovations and projects, including the design of the 386 processor, as project leader of the embedded systems division, as head of Intel's e-business venture in Singapore, and as President of Intel India. He is presently the CTO of CafeGive, an Internet company that enables online shoppers to earn or raise funds for a cause of their choice. He brings to Nextenders his vast experience in the fields of e-commerce, software development and Internet applications.
